Winemakers Notes
In the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey is one of the most important appellations in Burgundy. Protected from humid winds by its hillsides, the vineyard extends between 230 and 320 metres above sea level.
Clay-limestone and marl-limestone soils are particularly suitable for Pinot Noir.
CHARACTER OF THE WINE
Deep red, with ruby reflections, this racy wine offers beautiful aromas of small red fruits supported by a firm but elegant tannic structure that will soften with ageing. Raspberry, strawberry, cherries, will evolve towards undergrowth, spices (tobacco) and leather. Nice roundness, beautiful firmness, it is a powerful and fleshy wine.
FOOD AND WINE PAIRING
At the table, this wine will accompany good traditional cuisine based on stewed meats and vegetables, grilled meats, rib steaks or pieces of beef, fondue bourguignonne, braised lamb or lamb in sauce, minced meat and gratins, cheeses. You will appreciate it for the youth of these fruits to bite into or after five to eight years for its maturity.
