The 2019 Titus Family Estate Reserve displays the focused character of the Ehlers Lane vineyard with a powerful wine that is impeccably structured. As it develops in the glass aromas of blueberry, and dark cherry, come together with espresso, bakers’ chocolate, crème brulee, and rose hip. Unctuous on the palate this delightful wine is nicely framed with lush tannins that highlight crème de cassis, black raspberry, and rich toast flavors. The wine keeps freshness through the finish and lingers with purity and grace.

Lovely and lifted aromas of candied violets, dark roasted coffee beans, graham cracker, black-toned fruit, and rich, lavish oak notes. Expansive on entry, offering loads of ripe blue fruit flavours, leather, more concentrated notes of espresso, crushed minerals, and licorice. Robust, woody tannins are matched by a beam of scintillating acidity, which glides to a long fresh finish.

An array of ripe blackcurrants and blackberries with notes of spices and pine wood. Full-bodied, deep and solid, yet juicy, with delicious fruit, firm tannins and a long, chocolatey and warming finish. Will soften in a couple of years. Try in 2023.

The deep purple-hued 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Family Estate Reserve is well worth seeking out, and it certainly plays above its price point. Impressive cassis, tobacco, chocolate, and spicy oak, as well as a kiss of chalky rock-like minerality, all give way to a rich, full-bodied, mouth-filling effort with ripe tannins and a great finish. It’s a brilliant Cabernet that I suspect will have 10-15 years of longevity, if not more.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Family Estate Reserve is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, it opens a little broody with sluggish tar, sautéed herbs and damp soil notes over a crème de cassis, blueberry compote and espresso core, plus touches of pencil lead and tapenade. Medium to full-bodied in the mouth, it has a firm, grainy frame supporting the layers of tightly wound, energetic black fruits, finishing long and savory.
A broad and fleshy offering, featuring warm cassis, steeped plum and smoldering tobacco notes that meld nicely, with hints of dark cocoa and freshly plowed humus peeking in on the finish. Drink now through 2029.
