In 1978 Jo Pithon started his first winery, Domaine Pithon, in the Loire Valley appellation of Anjou. In 2008, with the help of his wife, Isabelle, stepson Joseph Paillé, and daughter-in-law Wendy, he reimagined the family business to form Pithon-Paillé. They farm 13 hectares of their own land and all of their grapes are farmed organically. Previous vintage received 90 points from Wine Spectator: "An elegant red, with notes of tobacco, cola and cedar, underscoring the core of dark cherry and black olive flavors. Earthy mineral hints glide through and add to the complexity, as this finishes with a prominent black pepper accent. Drink now through 2023. 1,375 cases made, 100 cases imported."
