Natte Valleij Axle Chenin Blanc 2023
Darling, Coastal Region, South Africa Cinsault-centric Alex Milner crafted this white for his Chenin-loving wife, sourcing fruit from 1985 planted dry farmed bush vines in Darling. This was basket pressed and settled 1 day before racking to older 225L barrels for native ferment. It remained in the barrels post-ferment with regular bâtonnage for a couple of months, and then a quiet rest, all totalling 9 months. Wild pear, herbal lemon, and downy lees swirl on the textural palate, lifted with an easy acidity, and gently woven with flake salts which linger on the tangerine pith finish.
