Messias Colheita 1980 presents a pale tawny wine, with personalised aromatic evolution, with well defined tertiary aromas, enhancing a noble wood with vanillas, good and elegant presence of the “Vinagrinho”, noble volatile acidity, and spices, mild notes of pepper and clove with a slight nutmeg touch. At taste is powerful and fresh revealing well its age, delighting us with its long after taste
The 1980 Colheita Tawny Port is a field blend from old vines, bottled in 2018 with 124 grams of residual sugar and a long cork. To me, this is a nice step up over the 1995 this issue. This shows more freshness, a more vibrant demeanor and more complexity from age. There might be just a touch of char, though. To be sure, it isn't as fresh and as sexy as the 1995, but it is far more fun to drink.
