Fabien Jouves Haute Côt(e) de Fruit is a fresh and crunchy version of Malbec. Definitely not the over-oaked, high-alcohol versions seen elsewhere (looking at you Argentina!) Farmed biodynamically and fermented and aged for six months in stainless steel tanks, this almost reads like a mixed berry salad in the glass, all mulberry, cherry, and spiced plum. Liquorice, blackberry crumble, and saddle leather with supple tannins and tangy raspberry acidity. A touch of earth brings some much-needed levity to this full, fruit-driven & food-friendly red. Serve with a slight chill.
