WILLIAMS
Rare is the opportunity to commune with fruit from vines more than 100 years old, but even rarer is the opportunity to find wines made from vines older than 200 years. Yet here we have a wine, lovingly made by Frenchman-turned-Chilean Louis Antoine Luyt, from vines of Pais over 220 years old! Pais was the variety much loved and planted by the Missionaries who traveled to Chile over the past 400 years. Today, Luyt makes his "Huasa" line of wines via carbonic maceration followed by aging in neutral French oak for 9 months. This thin skinned and lightly colored red is a must try for lovers of Pinot Noir and Gamay as well as Poulsard and Trousseau.
