Laudun-Chusclan (Maison Sinnae) Description

Lanterna

Standing on the heights, atop a chain of hills next to the Rhône river, Château de Gicon has provided a strategic viewpoint over the Rhone Valley from time immemorial. In turn castle fortress then lord's manor, it was owned by the Benedictine Priors of Saint-Saturnin and the Lords of Gicon who developed the culture of the vine. They entrusted us with the secret of making wine which expresses the high quality of our terrors.

It is for this reason that the Vignerons de Laudun Chusclan are totally committed to the restoration and preservation of the Château, symbol of the culture of the vine and winemaking expertise that grows with each and very passing year. Located on the right bank of the Rhone river, in the department of the Gard, Laudun-Chusclan Vignerons is the result of a voluntary association of the Vignerons de Laudun (founded in 1925) and the Vignerons de Chusclan (founded in 1939), intended to create real synergy, resulting in new, ambitious shared projects.

•Vignerons Laudun-Chusclan
Vignerons Laudun Chusclan is composed of a consortium of wine growers committed to producing high quality vines from the Rhone Valley. Their philosophy includes striving to exceed regulations set by the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée, retaining a dedication to research, engaging in sustainable agriculture through an involvement with the French l'Agriculture Raisonnée, and an overarching commitment to their wine growers, evidenced by the fact that not a single grower has left to set up on their own.

•Protection of the environment: Sustainable development
Since 1998 Laudun Chusclan Vignerons has been involved with preserving the environment through following rigorous rules regarding the plots and the dry stone walls; using cultivation methods which support the flora and the eco-system. As a result of this, in 2010 85% of the vineyard was certified sustainable. In addition to this more than hundred hectares are today cultivated organically leading to the creation of the range Terra vitae including white “Côtes du Rhône Villages Laudun” and the red “Côtes du Rhône”. Since 2012, Laudun Chusclan Vignerons has been involved with the process “Agri-confiance” with a view to certification of the vintage 2013.
