For the Immich-Batterieberg Wermut - Riesling & Artemisia Absinthium, the base wine from the Enkircher Ellergrub was harvested in 2018. The ungrafted vines are 300m above the Moselle on steep slopes on the typical blue slate. The vermouth from Immich-Batterieberg is a real terroir drink, because the botanicals all come from the Ellergrub site. In addition to the wormwood herb (Artemisia absinthium), which gives it its name, there are also wild hawthorn and rosehip. The aromas of the botanicals are obtained using an alcoholic cold extract. The alcohol content of 14.50 percent by volume is at the lower end of the legal limit for aromatized wines (there has to be a law for everything). All in all, it results in a coherent, top-class vermouth that reflects the terroir.
