WILLIAMS
The radiant golden-yellow Enkircher Batterieberg Riesling comes from 80-year-old ungrafted vines on gray slate and quartzite soils in the steep terraces of the Starkenburg slope and opens with a highly delicate yet also very deep and stony bouquet with perfectly concentrated ripe fruit aromas and notes of crushed stones and wild herbs. This is fascinatingly complex again and at this early stage it also has very fine gunpowder notes. Pure fresh and intense on the palate this is a dense lush and firmly structured Batterieberg with a touch of sweetness on the finish. Bottled three weeks ago on October 11 (with the sulfur dose a few days before) this is a still-nervous but tensile and very promising wine that should be cellared for a year or three if you like to enjoy a wide relaxed and balanced grand cru. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork.
