Because of its historical significance, Coppo is among the few wineries allowed to vinify Nebbiolo to become Barolo outside of the wine’s strict production area. The vineyards are located in the South of Asti with Southern exposure. The soil is composed of calcareous clay marl with prevalence of silt, between the altitude of 650-820 ft.
Tasting Notes: Scorched earth, baking spice and red berry aromas emerge from the glass. The savory palate offers red cherry, clove and tobacco alongside dusty tannins. Pair with baked beef shank, braised veal cut, baked lamb with potatoes.

Coppo’s 2020 Barolo is a very pretty, inviting wine. Wild red cherry, spice, orange peel, cedar and pipe tobacco offer lovely aromatic intensity to play off the wine’s pliant, open-knit fruit. Soft, creamy tannins wrap it all together through the sustained, silky finish. This is a fine Barolo. Drink it over the coming seven to ten years.

The wine is assertive and forward, showcasing a harmonious blend of red and black fruits that evoke the richness of spiced preserves. A woodsy essence and a whisper of earthiness add a grounding dimension to the profile. The structure is firm, supporting a dark, almost brooding character with abundant notes of licorice, leather and savory spice with a finish that asks for a bit more time in the cellar. Drink 2026 - 2045.
