The wine has a beautiful deep and dense color, the nose is intense on the fresh ripe fruits (strawberry and cherry), notes of smoke, sweet spices and an elegant floral character. A gourmand wine, charming and harmonious with rich and silky tannins. The finish is intense, long and fresh. Accessible in its youth thanks to its balance, the precision of its tannins and its tension, this vintage has a great potential of custody for the most patients.

Dark-berry, violet, black-tea and cedar aromas. Hint of oyster shell, too. It’s medium-bodied with firm, fine-grained tannins. Sleek and refined. Try from 2024.

Far greater depth of fruit than the Dame de Boüard, with juice running through the palate, and careful layering of blackberry and cassis fruits against mouthwatering slate texture that speaks to the limestone soils. A pretty gourmet wine also, with chocolate and damson nots. Good value. Drinking Window 2022 - 2034

Big tannins and rich, succulent black fruits give a wine that is rich, solid and immensely concentrated. It is a blockbuster wine, dense and full of the ripest black fruits and promising a long aging. Drink from 2024.

Bright plum and bitter cherry fruit is laced with a flash of anise. Reveals a singed wood echo on the finish. Barrel Sample: 88-91.

The Grand Vin is the 2018 Château Clos De Boüard, a deeper, richer wine that's going to benefit from bottle age. Lots of darker currants, cherries, sandalwood, incense, and spicy notes define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a balanced, layered texture, some firm yet ripe tannins, and a great finish. Give bottles 2-4 years and enjoy over the following decade. Rating: 91+

Vinous
The 2018 Clos de Boüard has a generous, ripe bouquet of blackberry, boysenberry and light violet aromas that all gain intensity with aeration. The palate is ripe and quite extracted on the entry. A powerful Montagne Saint-Émilion with grippy tannin's, though it needs a little more amplitude toward the finish, which feels strict and linear. It does open up with aeration and should come around with 2–3 years in bottle. Drinking window: 2023 - 2035
