Médoc Grand Cru Classé, Château Talbot comprises 107 hectares of vineyard cultivated in the heart of the Saint-Julien commune, an outstanding appellation, as it counts no fewer than 11 classified growths.

Ideally situated on the banks of the estuary of the Gironde on hilltops of alluvial gravel carried by the Dordogne River from the Massif Central and from the Pyrénées by the Garonne, Château Talbot’s terroir is exceptional.

It's true, Talbot is a champion of longevity, which does not stop even in his very first youth to be kind and round, always marked by silky tannins and sweet, very civilized. Talbot has an extroverted nature, he is never inward looking, and has the courtesy of being in a good mood every day. It is a racy wine, with complex notes of tan and licorice, deliciously classic without any austerity.

This fruity, soft, somewhat commercial, mid-weight St.-Julien offers sweet black cherry and currant fruit intermixed with subtle herb, spice box, and smoke characteristics. While not particularly concentrated, it is a round, aromatic, soft, sensual 2006 to enjoy over the next 10-13 years.

Tasted at the UGC. Very little on the nose which displays some underlying greenness. Blackberry, wild hedgerow, cut grass and a touch of toffee. The palate is medium-bodied with furry tannins, lacking a little harmony and focus with supple, red-berried finish. Well integrate new oak, I think this will improve a point or two in barrel. Tasted April 2007.

Very perfumed, with violet and currant character. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long finish. Juicy young wine. Impressive.

Dark crimson. Tobacco leaf notes on the nose - rather drying tannins on the finish. A little bit pinched. Far from opulent!

Medium ruby-red. Wild aromas of cassis, minerals, leather and meat. Supple and sweet but with modest grip and cut to the redcurrant and leather flavors. The tannins build, leaving the finish a bit tough.
