ROBINS
A powerful, dry Cabernet, with a gravelly, salty edge Château Pey-Martin is a classic Left Bank Bordeaux, made from a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon. The château is located in the Médoc appellation, the furthest north appellation in Bordeaux, north of St. Estèphe. Sandwiched between the Gironde River and the Atlantic Ocean, with gravel, clay, and limestone soils, Médoc wines are concentrated and savory.
Pey-Martin has been owned by the Francisco family since 1870, and the current winemaking team consists of Jean and his daughter Stephanie, pictured. Winemaking is typical of the region: a long maceration, with alcoholic fermentation taking place in steel vats. Aging is in 70% concrete tanks and 30% French oak barrels.
