This is good quality with tight dark fruits, cassis and bilberry, layered with chocolate but the oak holds back from being overly sweet or toasted, rather the flavours feel precise and well-expressed. Enjoyable stuff from this 14ha estate with gravel over clay soils, located opposite Denis Durantou's La Chenade.

The 2015 Grand-Ormeau felt a little constricted on the nose: simple red berry fruit, a little earthiness coming through, but not fully letting go. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and well-judged acidity, and here, the quality filters through with impressive precision on the finish. Once this has absorbed the oak, it will be a delicious Lalande-de-Pomerol.
