A superb property on the Saint-Emilion plateau, certified biodynamic since 2008, Château Fonroque is a precursor of biodynamics in Bordeaux. The property has been family-owned since 1931 and is constantly evolving: today a new cellar is being built. At the head of the castle is Alain Moueix who took over the property in 2001. An engineer and oenologist by training, he chose biodynamics while being convinced as a scientist. He has indeed experimented and compared sustainable, organic and biodynamic agriculture in parallel. Premier Grand Cru Classé of Bordeaux certified biodynamically, Château Fonroque is a prominent member of Biodyvin.
