A Pauillac that has been over-delivering from some time now, the 2020 Château Fonbadet reveals a healthy ruby/purple hue as well as textbook aromatics of blackcurrants, cassis, graphite, tobacco, and a kiss of background oak. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it's balanced, has the vintage's straight, focused style, and enough tannins to warrant 4-6 years of bottle age. It will keep for two decades.

The 2020 Fonbadet is a soft, succulent Pauillac. Fruit and forward, but with bright acids, the 2020 has a lot to offer. I admit, I wanted a bit more complexity here, but the 2020 is nicely done and very easy to like. Red fruit, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco linger.

Cedar, black plums, blackberries, graphite and lemon leaves on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with firm, polished tannins. Serious and mineral yet velvety too. Refined and long. 76% cabernet sauvignon and 24% merlot. Drink from 2025.

Classic Pauillac, very much old school in that this closes down pretty early on, and keeps the blackberry and bilberry fruit from fully opening up. Enjoyable appellation typicity though, and this will be a lovely food wine in a few years time. A yield of 55hl/ha. 40% new oak.

88-90 Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Fonbadet opens with fragrant notes of kirsch, black raspberries and red roses, plus suggestions of tobacco leaf, graphite and redcurrant jelly, plus a hint of bay leaves. The medium-bodied palate is elegant and refreshing, offering a solid backbone of firm, chewy tannins, finishing savory.
