History and owners: the André Lurton family
Château Bonnet has a long history dating back to the seventeenth century. André Lurton took over the estate in 1956 with 30 hectares of vines and set about rebuilding and developing the vineyards. If we add to this the production of the other beautiful properties that the André Lurton family owns and which are called Guibon, Grossombre, Goumin, Peyraud, this represents a whole of nearly 300 hectares that produces an average of 150,000 cases of wine.
A terroir in Grézillac
Château Bonnet is located in the north of Entre-Deux-Mers, on the clay-limestone hilltops of the commune of Grézillac, which dominate the Dordogne valley some 10 km south of Saint-Émilion. This terroir offers great wines from different appellations, in Bordeaux and Entre-Deux-Mers.
A red wine from Bordeaux
The estate has a large vineyard composed of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon which produces an excellent Bordeaux red wine known to be superior to all the crus of its appellation by its quality and regularity.
A white wine from the Entre-deux-Mers region
Today, Château Bonnet produces, for almost half of the total production, a very popular dry white wine from Entre-Deux-Mers, made from the Sauvignon, Sémillon and Muscadelle grape varieties. These wines are vinified with great care in order to preserve all the freshness of their fruit, as well as the aromatic characteristics of their grape varieties
A sparkling wine
The estate also offers the "Diane by Jacques Lurton" cuvée, a sparkling blanc de noir wine made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. It offers a palate that has a remarkable freshness with a beautiful intense aromatic palette of white fruits.
The property also offers Diane by Jacques Lurton in red and white wines: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, 100% Sauvignon Blanc, 100% Sémillon Blanc, and Rosé.
Colour, good depth, and a lovely cherry red, with some violet highlights. The nose is marked by notes of peony, crisp fruit (cherry), enhanced by a hint of peppery notes. The attack is frank. There is a very nice volume in the middle of the mouth. The tannic structure is average; the tannins are well blended. The red fruits (cherry), previously perceived on the nose, are found here in the mouth. It is a greedy, digestible wine, very easy to drink.
