Mythos is produced with the best grapes from our oldest vineyards, using less then 2% of the available top quality grapes from Casal da Coelheira Estate vineyards.
After all varieties fermented separately, maturation occurs, up to 14 months, in French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels.
Earning reputation as a benchmark in Tagus’s region, Mythos is a full-bodied red wine, with superb ripe fruit within a rich tannin structure. A powerfully modern red wine from a classic 35 years old portuguese vineyard.
Will achieve complexity within 8 to 10 years of bottle, but is perfect for drinking now. Suitable for stronger meals, lamb and game red meat.
GRAPE VARIETIES Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Cabernet Sauvignon SOIL TYPE Sandy WINEMAKING Hand picked and selected grapes from our oldest vineyards; destemming, maceration and fermentation in mechanical “lagares” with temperature control, malolactic fermentation, matured in 80% French and 20% American oak barrels and filtration. ANALYSIS Alcohol: 15,2% Total Acidity: 7,15 g/l pH: 3,47 Total Sugar: 0,6 g/l SERVING SUGGESTIONS Temperature: 17ºC / 63ºF Gastronomy: cheese, red meat Longevity: drink now and through the end of 2037 TASTING NOTES Intense red garnet color. Rich, complex, with fresh notes of laurel and eucalyptus, some plum and blackberry and light toast and vanilla from the aging in barrels. The mouth is fresh, with pretty good acidity, good balance, great concentration and ripe tannic structure. Long finish
