WILLIAMS
The méthode Birichinoise is infinitely adaptable, and terribly convenient when a tranche of grapes originally destined for red wine are redirected to rosé production. We receive Pinot Noir from three different blocks on the two Besson Ranches. The grapes for this wine derive from Alejandra’s Block, originally planted c. 1990, which produces the most overtly fruity of the Pinots we receive from George and Martha Besson in contrast to the more botanical blocks closer to the mountains- more Cali than Euro; more valley than alpine; more velvet than worsted wool; more Elizabeth Burton in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof than Elizabeth Burton in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf; more Daniel Craig in Layer Cake than Daniel Craig in Casino Royale; rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré than Savile Row, more … you get the idea amid the ridiculousness. It’s lush and pretty and makes for a forward, fruity Pet Nat, more in the berry registers than the stone-fruited Cinsaut Pet Nat.
