VINEYARD NOTES: Hirondelle Vineyard is the first vineyard in the Amici portfolio to come from the unique Stag’s Leap District in Napa Valley. Located in the eastern portion of Napa Valley, Stag’s Leap District was the first region to be approved in the United States based on soil type. Volcanic rock and river sediments make up a staggering blend of soils that give the region its famed intensity and flavor profile often described as “an iron fist in a velvet glove.” 2021 VINTAGE: The 2021 harvest was one of rebirth and achievement for Amici Cellars. In celebration of our 30th harvest, and after the challenges that 2020 brought, our team was especially looking forward to this vintage. The warmer, drier winter led to an early bud followed by a dry but steady summer. Harvest began in mid- August and continued steadily before ramping up in September as the heat rose across the valley. Drought conditions throughout California led to lighter crop yields; however, we are very pleased with the exceptional quality of fruit. TASTING NOTES: The 2021 Hirondelle Cabernet Sauvignon from the beautiful Stags Leap District showcases the classic iron-fist characteristics that the region is known for. Fragrant aromas of cherry cordial, orange marmalade, crushed violets and cassis lead into an elegant, mouthwatering palate. Flavors of blackberry, black cherry and baking spice are layered with refined, seamless tannins that carry through the long finish. ALCOHOL: 14.8% APPELLATION: Stag’s Leap District, Napa Valley BLEND: 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc FERMENTATION AND AGING: 100% Stainless Steel fermentation; Aged 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels
